Submersible Grinder Pumps Grinder Pump Systems

Grinder pump systems offer unique solutions for specific applications because grinder pumps differ from non-clog pumps because they can chop or grind sewage as it passes through the grinder pump. This feature means that smaller diameter piping can be used, which in turn reduces costs. Grinder pumps systems have the capability of pumping against higher heads and thus can be used to break down the solids found in sanitary lift stations.

Grinder pump systems are often used as solutions for areas with a low-pressure sewer. The grinder pumps are placed at each building site in order to pump sanitary sewage from that location into the pressurized sewer. Grinder pumps differ from non-clog pumps in their ability to do this. Submersible grinder pumps have a distinct advantage over non-clog pumps in handling sewage system pumping issues. Submersible grinder pumps have the capacity to operate under water. This feature allows their motors to be cooled by the water’s temperatures which in turn, enhances their durability.

Another application for grinder pump systems is where an individual sewage lift station has minimal flow requirements, but must be pumped into a high head system created by a long run of pipe or from a high static lift. The length of the horizontal pump bears a direct ratio to a submersible grinder pump’s ability to lift. For every 10 feet of piping, a grinder pump will be able to equate to one foot of lift. The shut off determines the maximum height that the grinder pump will be able to lift, resulting in zero flow at the shut off height.

Hydromatic’s grinder pump systems can be designed to meet the unique circumstances of any sewage flow system, with their ability to transport material that cannot be handled by other types of pumps. Submersible grinder pumps give an added advantage of handling solids in waste water collections, making sure that waste water treatment can deliver the sanitizing needed from removal of these elements of waste water from any potential of public exposure.
